Frances Scovil, Managing Director, SCALE RCM
Frances is a senior Revenue Cycle executive with more than 25 years experience in large, complex environments. She has an extensive track record as a catalyst for change and is skilled at leveraging data to inform decision-making. With a particular strength engaging diverse stakeholders to realize collaborative change, her emphasis is on combining analytics, technology and automation to improve denials and maximize capture rates for clients.
Since joining SCALE RCM in 2022 Frances has partnered with a variety of MSOs and DSOs to help RCM and business leaders understand how improvements in RCM efficiencies can impact both bottom line and cash flow. During a due diligence project for a large refinance target, her background as a CFO helped her identify the company’s over-estimation of their collection rate by 100+ basis points allowing the lender to more accurately project earnings.
In another engagement with a large surgery practice, she showed how the business could capture an additional $130k/year in profits by refunding credits in a timely manner, preventing a build-up of liabilities and preventing over-compensation of physicians.
In 2012 she was recruited to head RCM for Pediatric Services of America (now Aveanna) with 60+ locations across 17 states. There she accelerated Cash Flow, setting a record for cash collections that stood for the next 5 years in this rapidly growing firm.
Immediately prior to joining Scale, Frances was Sr. Director, RCM at Kindred at Home (now CenterWell Home Health) the country’s largest Home Health provider with 450 branches in 35 states. At Kindred she established the company’s first RCM Strategy & Process Team including Training, QA & Process Improvement. Within months of her arrival, she won management support for a new RCM platform and drove the selection effort. Additionally, she quickly established the company’s first AR Escalation team which soon doubled the reimbursement rate for Aetna across the company. Frances also
managed collections for all fee-for-service payors nationwide.
In her early career she held a variety of operations and finance positions including VP of Operations, COO, and CFO.
Frances holds a BS Engineering from MIT, an MBA in Operations Management from University of Chicago’s Booth School of Business and a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt.
